Historical first meeting of Serbian and Finnish associations from Belgrade and Helsinki

On July 28, 2026, the first official meeting was held between representatives of the Serbian-Finnish association Seura from Belgrade and the Serbian-Finnish Society from Helsinki.

This meeting represents an important step in connecting organizations that share the same goal – fostering and developing ties between Serbia and Finland, as well as bringing together people interested in the culture, society, and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the countries of the region.

Exchange of Experiences and Ideas

During the meeting, representatives of both societies had the opportunity to get to know each other and present the work of their boards, as well as the activities they organize throughout the year.

We discussed upcoming activities, as well as the programs our associations usually organize – from cultural and social events to various initiatives aimed at connecting the Serbian and Finnish communities.

A special topic was funding activities and opportunities for applying for grants, where it was useful to exchange experiences and information about various possibilities for supporting the work of associations.

A large part of the discussion was also dedicated to joint projects. Through an exchange of ideas, we discussed which activities we could organize together in the future and how we could connect our members and communities in Serbia and Finland.

One of the concrete ideas that was raised was the possibility of a joint petition for the introduction of a direct air route between Serbia and Finland.

The Gathering Continued Over Dinner

After the official part of the meeting, we continued our gathering at a restaurant, in a relaxed and very pleasant atmosphere. It was wonderful to have the opportunity not only to discuss future projects, but also to simply spend time together and get to know each other outside the formal setting.

For us, this meeting represents the beginning of a new chapter in our cooperation. We are glad that we have finally connected and that from now on we will be able to stay in much closer contact, exchange ideas, and work together on initiatives that can contribute to even stronger ties between Serbia and Finland.

We hope that this first meeting will be the beginning of numerous joint projects, activities, and future gatherings.
